San Francisco 2009...Part 1

Jon and I recently got back from a beautiful, hectic, cold, warm, fun trip to California. We left Saturday, July 25 and went non-stop until we got home on the 30th. We stayed at Hotel Palomar in the heart of San Francisco and in 6 days managed to tour the city, travel to Napa Valley twice, visit Muir Woods, eat breakfast a few times in Sausalito, drive to Carmel and celebrate our 2 year anniversary! I will be describing most of our trip through images as I comb through the over 800 pictures I have on my computer. (We downloaded close to 1,000, but after the first round of cuts, we got the number down to a measly 800.) So...without further rambling...here's our trip at a glance:

Our Hotel

Day One: Fisherman's Wharf

As previously discussed from my Sea World experience, these little guys are Sea Lions...the cute ones. Not Seals.

I totally bought a left-handed spiral at this store!!!

Day Two: Sausalito, Muir Woods, Golden Gate and Ghirardelli Square

Sausalito

This is our little comb-over friend...enjoying the breeze!

Muir Woods

Muir, Muir, Muir...Don't worry, I bought Lyric an awesome t-shirt!

For those of you who know me and my family, you know we have a "thing" with ladybugs. There was a point along the
trail where we saw THOUSANDS of ladybugs!!! Too cool!

Golden Gate Bridge

Ghirardelli Square

Quick Recap:
Fisherman's Wharf- I loved the Sea Lions! I could have watched them forever!

Sausalito- One of our favorite spots! We wish we would have stayed there instead of in the city. There are more pictures of our visits to Sausalito to come.

Muir Woods- Incredible! It was so peaceful and quiet and as you can see from the pictures, it was beautiful!!!

Golden Gate Bridge- It was covered with fog the entire time we were there! We wished we could have had a clear picture of the entire thing, but the fog was pretty cool. It was like you were driving through the clouds.

Ghirardelli Square- Kind of a let down. We thought there was an actual Ghirardelli factory where you got to watch them make the chocolate. Not the case. It was super crowded and after standing in line for 20 minutes, I was told I was in the to go line. Oh well...the peanut butter and hot fudge sundae I had wasn't too shabby! I did LOVE the little Crown and Crumpet store in the square!!! I got a precious tea cup and saucer...probably my favorite purchase of the trip.

Day 1 & 2...Check!

  4. We did all of that for our honeymoon! I am so jealous! We stayed in a little town called Mill Valley, much like Sausalito, which I would highly recommend :)
