The Big "Bang" Theory

I think it's time to share a personal struggle that I believe all you ladies out there can sympathize with. I'm in the middle of a complete bang crisis! Some of you are aware of my grief and frustration with the recent damage done to my hair. Before we review the Big "Bang" Theory of 09, let me give you an idea of what we're dealing with here.

Around the end of December, I started to notice my hair looked a little dry and unhealthy. I was trying to tame some funky frayed ends when I suddenly noticed that a good chunk of my bangs were SINGED OFF! Some measuring in at 1 inch or shorter!!! What could be happening? I haven't colored my hair in 7 or 8 years (I had blond highlights for a while in high school...NOT a good look) and I don't use very many products. I was stunned, shocked and frankly a tad depressed. I stopped using my curl brush completely, didn't straighten my hair, put a protein enhancing product in after every shower, dried my hair on the low heat setting, which took twice as long and have pulled my bangs back with a bobby-pin every day for 2 months.

Thankfully, after two visits to my salon downtown, I think I'm finally on the road to recovery.

Friends and family all have their own diagnosis:

1. I must be anemic
2. My hormones are out of whack
3. I'm not eating enough protein
4. I'm leaving my straightener on too long
5. I don't know how to properly use a curl brush
6. I should switch shampoo
7. Etc.

Granted, all of the above could easily be true, but the final verdict was my hair dryer sucked and I was holding it on my awful curl brush for too long! Who knew?

Solution:
New hair dryer to be used with the little nozzle-like attachment they always put in the box, but no one ever uses and a new ceramic curl brush.

The bobby pin look is really starting to get old, but if singed, crazy bangs are the worst thing to happen to me in 2009, I'm A-OKAY!

I realize the vain, superficial focus of this alleged "crisis", but isn't there a deeply personal and sensitive relationship between a woman and her hair? No one talks about a bad outfit or makeup day, it's a bad hair day that causes such a fuss. I know I don't need to explain this to those of you who have ever thought you wanted short hair, only to mourn its loss everyday until it grew back or the group of you who were just looking for a change and became the victim of a color experiment gone terribly wrong.

At least we have each other!
